HOLY ROMA !

Once again Ryan and I treated ourselves to a fabulous dinner at Roma's Ristorante in Oakville, CT.  Ryan grew up in Prospect, CT so this was his former 'spot' with all his guys- (and the occasional other ladies he felt like sweeping off their feet at the time).

Now- I LOVE anything spicy and Ryan cries at the sight or smell of spice.  I can eat anyone, hands down, under the table and not even flinch when it comes to spicy food.

I ordered the longhot peppers for a appetizer and they killed me.  Ryan wanted to act macho and try some.   He spent the next half hour blotting his face and crying.  He just continued to eat his smelts (how traditional italian was this place?!) The server actually said to me: "I like you- you're cool" HAHA.

After the appetizers we were into the second course.  I ordered the puttanesca with homemade cavitelli, which was the size of my FACE.  The bowl was so large and the server told us no one has ever finished a bowl of their pasta before!  I took most of it home.

Ryan ordered veal saltimbocca and ate almost all of his, which was gigantic as well.  Maybe that's why he felt sick and refused to have another sip or bite of one thing once dinner was over lol.

As for Romas my friends.  If you want traditional italian food- homemade pasta, easy going service, smelts and longhhot peppers, Romas is for you all the way.  It may be a drive, but totally worth it.  They're busy every night!

We had one of our favorite bottles there- Ceretto 2006 Asij, Barbaresco.  If you haven't tried this you definitely have to.
